Hands-on service during JanTerm semester
JanServe 2023 will be held January 18th!
- In Partnership with Sherman ISD
- On campus Special Olympics Tournament with 500+ participants
- In school activities with Elementary/Middle students
Service is SWEET as Honey
A service event created for students staying on campus during JanTerm! There are 2 sites to accommodate your class schedule:
Morning Session (9 a.m.-12 noon): Work with Special Olympics Texas at our Basketball Tournament. You will run event stations, escort participants, give out awards, and interact with all the Special Olympians.
Afternoon Session (1 p.m.-3 p.m.): Work with area schoolchildren doing various activities. You will need to follow the link for a background check before you are officially registered for this site.
On Campus Afternoon Session (3 p.m.-5:30 p.m.): wheelchair accessible ramp/module building with Duane From Texas Ramp Project
You may register online or visit the JanServe table outside the cafeteria.
Here is the info for the background check:
Select New Volunteer and fill out the on-line application. You will need your driver’s license info (If you have completed this before, you’ll need to remember your password!) Do not worry about all the different boxes to check – just check all schools and tutoring.
The on-line application should be completed by January 16th to allow enough time for the background check process.
